5 Reasons to Sponsor The Blonder Side

Being homeless can really cause a person some severe anxiety. So for all of y’all who have mentioned suffering from this, I now know how you feel for one week of my life and I give you major props. I don’t know how you survive year after year…woof.

I think I’ve got everything pretty much squared away. I should be in my own apartment come next weekend so keep your fingers crossed for me. Since I’ve gotten zero writing done this past week, I’ve been pullin form my discarded drafts and revampin them a bit. Today’s post comes to you courtesy of my own narcissistic and self-promoting ways 😉

As I’ve mentioned a few times since becoming self-hosted, I am now offering Sponsorships. You can click over to my Sponsor page if you’re already interested. Now I know I’m on the smaller end (growing every day though) it’s not just My opinion why sponsoring small-medium blogs is a good idea though. Read these other ladies thoughts.

BUT for those of you still unconvinced that sponsoring BlonderSide is a good idea, I’ve complied a list of 5 reasons why you should change your mind.

>> #1. You get my undivided attention. Literally, you might be the only one which means you get 100% of my attention and love. Even if you’re not though, I know how important it is you get what you paid for being a smaller blog myself. Your baby becomes my grand-baby (and we all know how much grandparents love to spoil their grandkids)

>> #2. I’ll work harder for you. Being a smaller blogger, I don’t have people clamoring to sponsor me. That means I’m gonna work EXTRA hard to make sure you get just what you paid for.

>> #3.  I’m growing, you’re growing, let’s grow together. We’ve all heard the sage advice about blog friends helping each other grow. As I grow, you’ll be growing right along side of me, and referring back to 1 &2, I’ll make sure you get a seat on the train.

>> #4. If you don’t like my stats today, just wait until I publish at RunHaven. Every time I publish an article over at RunHaven, it gets linked back to my blog. It makes my stats sky-rocket into Big-Blogger ranges and keeps it there for the following week/half. Just a little math for you, I publish there two-three a month. I’m only goin up so refer back to #3.

>> #5. Listen to real Sponsors! I may only be a month in to this whole sponsorship thing, but here’s what my current sponsors have to say about their experience. I only paid them a little bit to say these nice things 😉

” I just want to let you know how amazing you are to your sponsors. Seriously…I don’t think I have ever had such amazing treatment before.” -Tori of Cupcakes and Crossbones

“I just wanted to say I think you’re doing a great job as a Sponsor (or are your the Sponsee?). I’ve sponsored a number of blogs, but only a few have been great, including yours. I appreciate the tweets and that you’re doing a post about your sponsors. I really feel like you care to help us out, which goes a long way.” -Ursula from Northern Ambitions

“I look toward to being on your sidebar next month! You were an awesome sponsor!!”  -Ashley from A Faithful Passion

I feel a bit weird plugging myself so hard, but ain’t no shame in my game. I realize until I get some good blog-cred for sponsorships, anyone would be taking a chance on me. All I can say is, I believe it would be worth it 🙂

Also anyone who uses the code SEPTEMBER gets 20% off all my ad spots!

How’s that for customer service 😀 lol

Now tell me the #1 thing you look for in a blog to sponsor?

Garlic Parmesan Roasted Chickpeas

Happy Hump Day!

Still homeless if you were wondering. Also work and school are already kickin my butt so BSoL is slightly gettin neglected my apologies. Good thing for scheduled posts right?

I’m bringing another recipe to y’all today, this one courtesy of Ms. Ursula herself. She posted a recipe for roasted chickpeas a little while back which really kicked my butt into gear. I’ve wanted to make these little suckers for months but laziness always won out in the end.

Anyway, I finally made some and than promptly made like 4 more batches. This is seriously the perfect snack. I’m not much of a chip person but these would easily replace that craving for those that are. I’ll definitely be packing these bad boys to work though.

garlic parmesan roasted chickpeas recipe

I don’t really like garlic but my family does which is why I opted for the garlic flavoring. They kinda reminded me of potato wedges in taste a little bit. Though I’ll admit I haven’t had a potato wedge in many a year so my taste buds could be off. I’m looking forward to trying different flavor pairings in the very near future…like tomorrow..

garlic parmesan roasted chickpeas recipe

Garlic Parmesan Roasted Chickpeas

  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic pepper seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan

Drain and rinse the chickpeas, then lay out on paper towels (over a plate because they’ll soak through). I think mine took about 30min to fully dry. Anyway, mix all other ingredients together then toss the chickpeas until fully coated.

Bake for about 40-50 minutes on 425. Check them around 40 minutes to see if they’re done, done being a nice golden brown. Also they shrink as they bake..this was surprising to me for some reason.

I know I said I wasn’t a snacker, but these just might be the thing that changes my mind. Or Ooo, yum, a salad topper! Total game changer.

What’s your favorite “unhealthy” snack you could replace with these?

Liebster Award Hoarder

Happy “I’m still homeless and I started work today but I have great friends who won’t let me sleep on the streets” Day!!

SInce I still am currently without a home (stress city to the max) and work and school start this week. I’ve spent  the better part of my waking hours this weekend trying to find a new place to live (pretty sure I found one). I’ll give the full story later, but for now you get to know me better, because blog status 🙂

Is it bad that I’m becoming a Liebster award hoarder of sorts? Because I kinda am….If you don’t believe me you can read 1&2, 3&4, & 5. (this makes 6 & 7…see, Hoarder) It really has nothing to do with me being completely and utterly awesome (because I know I’m not foolin anybody), it’s simply because I’ve got some amazing readers and blog friends.

Anyway, my Birthday was a week ago Saturday and because I’m still clinging to a few early-20’s behaviors, it’s gonna be all about me for a bit longer…..#sorrynotsorry

The ever lovely Leanna from Simply Adventurous was kind enough to nominate me and I couldn’t be more happy to answer her questions. (sorry I’m late Leanna!) As well as nominated by Jamie from The Growing Up Diaries.

But first here are the rules because we don’t want blogland to descend into the clutches of chaos.

>>You must link back to the blogger who nominated you (check)
>>Mention the rules of the award and display the badge on your site (check)
>>You must list 11 facts about yourself (5 is good)
>>You must answer the 11 questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you(I picked 5 from each nomination)
>>You must nominate 11 other bloggers with 200 or less followers + give them 11 questions (new or reused) to answer on their blog (I actually have close to 600 through bloglovin, wordpress, and email, but we’ve already established I’m a hoarder)
>>You must let your nominees know that they have been nominated + link them in your post

Ok here are 5 facts about myself you never asked to know:

  1. I enjoy ice cream best half melted
  2. I’m not allowed to run anymore due to arthritis in my left knee. At 25 that’s a pretty crappy lot considering running is my happy place.
  3. I’ve probably given away 2/3 of my entire wardrobe to my little sister over my lifetime. (and not because I outgrew them) Sometimes it pains me to think of all the money I wasted, though if ya ask her it was money well spent.
  4. I’ve moved states at least once every 2-3 years my whole life. I’m a nomad with friends all over the place or no friends depending on how you look at it lol.
  5. I haven’t quite left my vball days behind me and still wear my spandex around my apt sometimes. It’s hard to let go….

  1. What is your favorite quote? Oh so many but if I Had to narrow it down my current favorite is, “What if I fall?” “Oh, my Darling, but what if you fly?” I’m not the bravest or most outgoing person you’ll ever meet, but I do go after my dreams for this very quote. You’ll never know until you try.
  2. If you had the chance to go back in time (during your life) where would you go and why? Shoot, maybe back to the summer of 2011. Call me a hopeless romantic but that’s the summer I met JB and it still remains my favorite time.
  3. Who is your inspiration? I pull inspiration from so many places, but my ultimate inspiration (whether she knew it or not) was my Grandmother. She was such a strong and beautiful woman and though I didn’t know her as well as I would have liked, I look up to the example she set for me. Now, my Parents are my inspiration. Making them proud is first and foremost my #1 goal always.
  4. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you visit and why? I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii, but I’d rather create my own virtual place where all the people I love live in the same town. Moving every few years isn’t too conducive to having loved ones near by.
  5. Have you ever “payed it forward”, if so, when and what compelled you? Yes, a few times. The most common and easiest is the “pay it forward” boards at coffee shops. Who doesn’t love a free scone?

  1. What is your favorite season and why? This one should be pretty obvious, Summer duh. It’s not only my birthday month, but I also love, love, love hot humid weather. The hotter the better (what’s up Southern GA childhood!)
  2. What inspires you the most in your daily life? This might be kind of a weird answer, but positivity inspires me. No matter the situation I try to find a more positive way to look at it and go from there.
  3. If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you want to have with you? A good book (to pretend it’s a leisurely vacation), bottomless sunscreen bottle (I’m pretty Caucasian), and a sharp stick (gotta eat somehow)
  4. Best advice you’ve ever been given? One summer during a particularly “job from hell” experience, I was all set to quite (it really was a toxic situation) and JB’s dad told me to think of the logical consequences before I made an emotional decision. I don’t tend to make emotional decisions, I’m the most informed decision maker you’ll ever meet so this was a good reminder to think things through before being hasty. I stuck it out, gained some great experience in dealing with terrible bosses, and covered my butt financially. It’s advice I refer back to all the time.
  5. You just won the lottery! What’s the first thing you use the money for? Student loans haha. But seriously, they suck and I want them to be gone. After that I’d gift my family a trip together somewhere. (maybe Hawaii??)

Because I’m a rule breaker, I hardly nominate anyone for these This time, however I wanted to share a few awesome blogs I’ve come across lately.

  1. Cupcakes and Crossbones
  2. Girl on the Move
  3. Run Crush
  4. Just Sayin
  5. Run Away With Me

  1. Dog or cat person?
  2. Book or movie? (you can tell a lot about a person with these two questions)
  3. Favorite quote?
  4. Currently binge watching?
  5. Favorite App? (I need some new ones)
  6. Best blogging tip?
  7. Favorite blog post you’ve written and why?
  8. If you could switch lives with anyone for one day who would it be?
  9. Motto or soundtrack to your life?
  10. Celebrity girl-crush?
  11. I’m out of questions, tell me something fun about your summer!

Now it’s YOUR turn! Pick one (or ALL!) question(s) and answer it in the comments!

Banner Takeover: A Faithful Passion

I start back at UK on Monday and I just moved back to Lexington, and for a few unforeseen reasons, am currently homeless. As you can imagine my life is pretty awesome right now.

While I attempt to figure out the best park bench to sleep on and the soup kitchen’s schedule, I have a friend taking over today. I’d like to welcome Ashley from a Faithful Passion! She’s been my wonderful banner sponsor all month and I’m happy to finally introduce her to y’all.

We decided to go with a Q&A sesh so y’all can get to know her a bit better. She’s got the fierceness and fashion sense I never will, along with a grounded spirit and strong faith. You’re gonna wanna go be her friend, but don’t just take my word for it, let her tell you why.

>>1. How did you come up with the name of your blog?

This name reflects my faith as well as my passion for life. I’m a strong believer within my faith & I give 100% to everything I deal with & dealt with in life thus the passion part.

>>2. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned this year?

Being patient & waiting on God’s timing. I went through an emergency surgery at the end of December, which rocked my world, but I had to have faith in Him that everything would work out in my favor.

>>3. Any secret talents or skills?

Not really, lol. I can read a book within a few hours or a day.. Does that count, lol?! I’m a real homebody that keeps to myself.. Nothing extraordinary here. 🙂

>>4.Chocolate or peanut butter?

DEF peanut butter. I’m such a health nut & won’t touch chocolate unless it’s dark.

>>5. Tell us a funny story about you/yourself.

I’ve always thought by now I’d be at least in a serious relationship if not married with kids BUT life has a way of reminding you that God is in control. I’m single, no kids, without a prospect in sight but I know I’m where I’m supposed to be & can’t rush my perfect timing. To me that’s funny, lol! 🙂

>>6. Last but not least, any last words of wisdom for us?

Stay true to yourself, always be willing to grow, karma is real, & stick with whatever your heart is set to!

Oh my goodness, if only every girl in her 20’s could learn that lesson sooner rather than later. Don’t forget to click on over to Ashley’s blog and make a new friend if you’re not following her already.

How I Spent my Early-20s “Wrong”

I’ve been 25 for almost an entire week now which pretty much makes me an expert on all things early 20’s right? Or can I no longer consider myself in my “early” 20’s?

….Anyway, I’ve begun the last year of young adulthood and sit on the precipice of descending into my 30’s, which for the record doesn’t freak me out like it’s supposedly supposed to despite my 17-yr-old sister’s declarations of how ancient I’m becoming. (thanks sis).

For my birthday I wrote about the lessons I learned at 24 but the more feedback I got the more I realized I really musta done my first 5 years of being a 20-something really “wrong” according to the World. Everyone kept saying they hadn’t learned those lessons yet. Did I miss something? Am I really that strange? (for the record yes)

How I spent my early 20's wrong

Also this isn’t me either….I WISH I could take such an epic photo….

Honestly this hilarious list here is more along the lines of how my first 5 years went as an adult. Then I came across this scathing post and according to more than one of her points I seriously failed at the first 5 years of my 20’s.

>>Starbucks. Who has the money? Seriously, I don’t care how delicious anything is, it isn’t worth 4 bucks every day. This is one bandwagon I will never be takin a ride on. Sorry instagram, you will never be the cool kid on the block without a creepy mermaid lady on your beverages. (ps you should follow me…or not)

>>What’s fireball? Does my 20-something card get taken away for even asking this question?

>>Wine. According to all my 20-something friends I’m doing something really wrong by not having a bottle of TJ’s 3 buck-chuck as a close confidant. Granted this trend goes beyond early 20’s.  Let’s just go with TJ’s in general….beyond their cookie butter I can’t say I quite understand…le sigh.

(I also find it strange that the first three things involve a liquid of one form or another….are 20 yr old thirstier then the average person? This is probably something we should look into yea?)

>>Perfectly Curated Eyebrows. I sometimes forget they’re even on my face, I’m sorry if my occasionally  un-plucked brows offend you, but maybe you’re priorities are the ones that need some re-evaluating.

>>Partying. The one that really got me on the mean list, was the “going out before the sun goes down and being home before midnight”. I’m sorry but a night owl I am not and that lifestyle never appealed to me. Besides that leaves more fireball for you so why so mad?

>>Crop-Tops. These are never gonna happen for me. Stop tryin to make crop-tops a thing. Bonus points for attempting a Mean Girls reference! Oh wait that goes against this list  sooooo…..

I also really loved Jenn’s post on being a “basic” white girl. If you haven’t read it you really should go give it a look. It’s from a few weeks ago, but then I’m always late to the party (or never show up at all) so you really shouldn’t be surprised. Anyway, the fact that she referenced Lauren Conrad means she’s my twinner for life anyway.

Basically it still surprises me when someone wants to be my friend because I break so many of the “rules” of society. I mean, let’s face it, we’re all a little weird and my weird just so happens to not fit neatly into the mold of a 20-something…..And I’m ok with that 🙂

Do you not quite fit a mold people have made for you? Tell me how and let’s be weird together 😀

No-Churn Smores Ice Cream

Y’all….you’re life is about to be forever changed…..

I did something for my birthday that my hips (and probably yours too) will hate me for forever…like forever, forever…..I made homemade ice cream….and it was really easy!!

no-churn smore's ice cream recipe

And it wasn’t even hard, which makes things even worse because laziness can no longer be an excuse to not consume the goodies….le sigh, I’ll haveta find another excuse not to eat all the food….

Also can I just point out how amazing these photos turned out? I’ve been really working on my photography skills (as in iphone skills) and incorporating props and stuff. Have no fear though, plenty of awful food photos are in the Blonder Side’s future. I’ve made all my recipes for the next month all around the same time and just haven’t posted them…so don’t get too excited lol.

no-churn smore's ice cream recipe

No-Churn Smore’s Ice Cream

  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • 1 14oz can condensed sweetened milk
  • 1/2 cup marshmallow cream
  • teddy grahams or graham crackers
  • chocolate bar or chocolate pieces

I found the recipe here, but I didn’t want this flavoring so I changed it accordingly. Seriously so yum and tastes just like anything you’d buy at the store if not better! The first 2 ingredients on the list are really the only ones you need to remember, then just add in whatever mix-ins you’re feelin.

In one bowl use a mixer to whip the heavy cream into stiff peaks. But if you have any choppin or melting to do I recommend you do that first. I chopped the chocolate and smashed the cookies before getting started. Once you’ve attained stiff peak status, pop the marshmallow cream in the microwave for like 15secs then mix it with the condensed milk.

no-churn smores ice cream

Finally fold all ingredients into the stiff peaked heavy cream. Pour into a bread pan, at least that what all the cool kids do. Wrap tightly in saran wrap and freeze for 4-6 hours. Although I’ll admit that I forgot the saran wrap step and mine turned out just fine. I wrapped it after I ate some though so it might make a difference long term, what do I know.

Anyone ever made ice cream before without a machine? What flavor would you make??

Also who wants to be my gym buddy to help me ward off the scale from tipping lol

Birthday Weekending

My birthday was this past Saturday and I am now officially 25. Or as my 17yr old sister would put it, I’m “soo old” and my life is “practically over.” But she’s still worried about boys and what to wear on the weekends so clearly I’m more complex than that….oh wait…

Anyway, thank you to everyone for all the Birthday love, especially on my last post. I had a great response and everyone was so nice. I’m still getting around to responding to all the comments, so thank you, thank you 🙂

To celebrate my Day, I went camping with my Padre, so excuse my absence from everything social media, but not gonna lie I didn’t even think about it once. I love being outside in nature and “unplugging” as they say. Still love y’all though, promise.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

I also realized I went backpacking with my Padre last year for my birthday weekend, so clearly patterns are being established. Not quite sure what these patterns say about my life, but hopefully good things and not old people things…no Fireball was consumed in the celebration of my big day. Just another reason I’m failing at this whole 20-something thing. #sorrynotsorry (<<— that’s still a thing right?)

I got some pretty funny comments on my last post about my lessons learned the other day. I just wanted to clear up that I’m Not the girl in the photo, it’s a stock photo. I mean, they got the mountains and long braid part down but last time I checked I wasn’t a tiny girl. However for your viewing pleasure I’ve attempted to reenact said photo…red bow and all

Nailed it…..minus the crooked braid and completely different person part….

Oh and word to the wise, this is what happens when your Father is you photographer for the weekend….

Notice how he switched the phone sideways half way through as well haha…Love that old man 🙂

Anyway, it was nice to spend time with family and enjoy the Great Outdoors. Don’t worry though, much cake was harmed in the making of this post….like all the cake….Also I tackled making no-churn ice cream so that’ll be up on the blog soon.

How was everyone else’s weekend? I feel so out of the loop!!
